Whether they are called go-karts or fun-karts, these four-wheel, off-road machines have come a long way from the days when customers'' choices were limited to homemade contraptions or those expensive models available at specialty dealers.Today''s go-karts blend the features, performance and safety of high-end models with increased affordability. This has resulted electriccarheaters in sales growth for manufacturers such as Murray, Yerf-Dog and Manco, and profits for retailers like Wal-Mart, Costco and several big-box sporting goods chains.

Only a mathematical genius like Archimedes could have described the geometry of the helix in the first place, and only a mechanical genius like him could have conceived a practical application for this unusual shape."

Cow comfortCow comfort was the goal when Terry Timmons (pictured below) built a new free stall barn on his dairy farm near Loudonville, Ohio. Timmons and his father milk 200 head of registered Holsteins. Larger stalls with more "lunge space" in the front help their cows get up and down easier now, says Timmons. Their old barn, built in the 1970s, had small stalls that were closed in the front. The new stalls were made locally by Stein-Way Equipment in Apple Creek, Ohio. The bedding is sand.The barn was built in August 2001 for $500 a stall, including electricity and water. Timmons says the investment has already paid off in better cow health.
